Welcome from the Coosa River Paddling Club!

Founded in 1991, the Coosa River Paddling Club has brought together individuals and families from all walks of life and paddling abilities. Our members consist of canoeists, kayakers, rafters, as well as non-boaters.

The Coosa River Paddling club is the host of the Coosa River Whitewater Festival, which is held annually and open to the general public. The whitewater festival is a weekend full of fun, entertainment, and competition. Our competitions are open to all levels of paddlers and playboaters. Boaters and spectators come from all over the United States come to watch the skillful artistry of playboating at the famous Moccasin Gap rapid. The CRPC uses monies raised from the festival each year for various projects and donations which benefit and enhance the Coosa River for the people and wildlife who enjoy its waters.

Thank you for visiting our web site. Please take a look around to see what we have to offer. We hope to see you out on the Coosa soon!

CRPC Paddling Trips

We would like to receive input on some upcoming paddling trips for members of the club to participate in. The trips will be open to all members and all types of boats and boards. Throughout the upcoming 2012 paddling season, there will be updates on the calendar page as well as emails notifying club members of group paddling trips. A release will of course need to be downloaded and signed by all participants on each trip. We anticipate paddling different creeks/rivers and most trips will be for one day and on Saturdays. Every person participating will be responsible for knowing their own paddling skill level. Some trips will require some portages and minor climbing into and out of the river (Town Creek).

Some suggestions for trips this year are:

Hatchett Creek (I-II)
Locust Fork (II-III)
Ocoee River (III-IV)
Town Creek (III, V)
South Sauty (IV+)
Tellico River (III-IV)

Please contact Michael Strickland with your interest and other recommendations or ideas for trips this paddling season. A designated meeting area and time will be established for all trips and an estimate on the number of vehicles needed will be sent out to all that will participate. If you are riding with someone, please realize that you will be expected to contribute to the cost of the fuel unless you have specifically made other arrangements with the driver. If you know of other ways to increase club participation, or have suggestions for what you would like to see occur with the club, please contact Michael and let him know.

Put on your rain dancing shoes and bring the southeast some much needed rainfall. We look forward to seeing you on the river. Thank you for your continued support of the CRPC!
